Vision
To foster a greener, more sustainable world through collective efforts
Mission
Empowering volunteers to drive positive change through tree plantation and sustainable practices
Our Story
Warning signs, especially in the last decade, such as heatwaves, the rapid rate of ozone depletion, bushfires, earthquakes, droughts, and tsunamis, were enough stimulus for us to start working to secure our environment and minimize unforeseen horrors.Forengers was founded by Neil Gokhale. We began our endeavor by organizing plantation drives, during which we carried out tree plantations, tended to them, and undertook the necessary steps for their maintenance. After the overwhelming success of our plantation drives, we took it upon ourselves to organize cleanliness drives. These drives focus on cleaning a particular area saturated with waste, undertaken by vigilant group members using proper equipment and sanitation.Initially, Forengers began working in the Kothrud area, hence it was established as the first zone by Neil Gokhale. Soon, Forengers grew and expanded into three more Zones: Sahakar Nagar, Hadapsar, and Pimpri-Chinchwad. The initiative to form these zones was taken by Neil Gokhale along with Mihika Kulkarni in the Sahakar Nagar area, Audumbar Dravid in the Hadapsar area, and Preetha Jawahar in the Pimpri-Chinchwad area, respectively.Amidst the challenges of lockdowns, individuals embraced activities like micro-farming and bird feeder projects within the confines of their homes. These initiatives not only promoted environmental stewardship but also fostered community engagement despite the constraints of social distancing measures.Furthermore, unique activities like composting and participation in initiatives such as Zero Hour were also facilitated. Composting, a sustainable practice, involves recycling organic waste into nutrient-rich soil, reducing landfill waste, and promoting ecological balance. Zero Hour, a youth-led movement, empowers young individuals to advocate for climate action and raise awareness about urgent environmental issues.Together, let us cultivate these seeds of progress, watering them with hope and determination, as we sow the fields of a brighter, more sustainable tomorrow for the generations that follow.
Composting
Composting, an ancient practice, entails the breakdown of organic waste into nutrient rich soil. Contrary to common belief, composting is accessible to everyone and offers a sustainable solution for recycling household organic waste such as vegetable peels and stalks, enriching soil fertility in the process. Forengers has actively encouraged its members to compost at home, especially during the pandemic. This simple yet effective method not only reduces waste but also fosters environmental sustainability. All you need is an earthen pot and kitchen waste to get started on your composting journey!
